Highland Books is a lovely shop in Brevard, NC. Amanda and Chris Mosser purchased the store from the previous owners, who had operated it for 40 years! The Mossers inherited a strong community legacy, and wanted to be sensitive to honoring that while bringing in their own unique touches.
One of the things they inherited was a lovely logo, but no usable files. The logo only needed slight updating; they wanted to retain the main look and feel to bridge the ownership transition. Matchbook recreated their logo and established a comprehensive color scheme and font set that they could use easily. We then took that branding and created new store section signage that featured their woodsy tree image and blocky text. We designed the signage and then helped her identify and coordinate with a local printer.
The next step was to update Highland’s IndieCommerce website. Using their brand, we designed a visually appealing website featuring store photographs that capture the shop’s beauty and the staff’s warmth and humor. We also created a page devoted to their sizable Ten Thousand Villages fair trade selection, which is a primary component of the store.
